Silkscreening Workshop with Diana Ejaita

This workshop explored the technical process of silkscreening, from scratch to the final print. Ejaita guided participants through the basic tenants of silkscreen production, from producing a drawing/pattern and constructing frames to darkroom and printing techniques. Participants were invited to produce a drawing or pattern in black and white, which were printed using either paper or textiles.

Diana Ejaita is a Nigerian/Italian artist based in Berlin who works in illustration and textile design. During her residency, Ejaita is experimented with painting and silkscreen to explore the legacy of Nigerian author Amos Tutuola. Inspired by the author’s stream of consciousness style and narrative patterns, Diana explored the conversation between texts, images and objects.
